Why I make windsocks

Take a look at my thinking behind Flyrite Windsocks and what it would mean to you to buy one of my windsocks.

I started by making a windsock for myself. Later that year I set up at a microlight show and put my windsock on top of a 6 metre stainless steel mast (one that I had made for the purpose of flying this windsock).

However, my windsock was also printed in big black bold print - flyrite.co.uk - and it stood out a treat.

I did this purely as a business sign with no intention of selling any. But one after another, people kept asking if I had any for sale to which I answered no. Then one chap asked if I would be prepared to make one for him and how much would it cost.

I had never thought about that before but 'in for a penny in for a pound' I stuck my neck out and gave him a price and approximate time of delivery which he accepted and immediately paid me.

He told a couple of his colleagues and I had another couple of orders paid for in advance - very nice.

After that, every time someone asked me for a windsock I would say "I don't have any but I can make you one". When the Microlight show was over, I had orders for ten windsocks and two mast kits.

When I got home, I decided to make improvements to the original design and have been improving them ever since.

The funny thing is that, I never got any feed back and so I had no idea whether my windsock were any good or not. Until one day one of my original customers came to me at the very same show and said "I'd better have another of your windsocks, mine has completely faded now". He quickly added "but it's still in one piece". I asked him how long he had had it and he said "Three years".

On one hand I was very pleased that my windsocks were lasting that long and giving my customers ultimate satisfaction, but on the other hand, it's not much good for quick repeat business. But don't worry, I am still improving them where I can, mainly in my production methods so that my customers get the best windsocks that their money can buy without breaking their bank.

It is my intention to manufacture the best windsocks in the world. What I mean by this is long lasting, reliable and highly visible windsocks. Ultimately, it is only your complete satisfaction (as a customer) that I want, because as my customer it is you who keeps me in business.
